[ Kakashi certainly had not expected that Steve would tell him his entire life story, but he supposes it isn't terrible to know more about him. After all, they had agreed to get to know each other, and that technically goes beyond just the professional parts of their lives. (Though for Kakashi, there really isn't any real delineation.)
He wasn't sure what he had expected, but the story Steve told him definitely wasn't it. And though Kakashi isn't entirely surprised that Steve was orphaned at a young age, he is surprised to hear that Steve somehow was malnourished and wasn't allowed to enlist. Clearly, this "Super Soldier Serum" not only made Steve into the man he is today, but also drastically changed his body's composition -- enough to allow him to somehow survive at the bottom of an ocean, frozen for over seventy years.
It's truly remarkable.
