It's called an olive branch. An apology. Just accept it, already.

[Iruka deadpans.]

We'll talk, of course. So. Whenever you're ready to come over.

[Then the clone pops away.]

[ Really, Kakashi would have settled for an apology, but a free meal will do just fine.

He goes back in to fetch his keys, sets the traps on his door, then heads over to Iruka's and tries the door. It's unlocked, so he lets himself in and takes off his shoes, closing the door behind him as he looks around.

Surprisingly, for a temporary home, Iruka's place looks pretty lived in. Even though he's only just arrived a little while ago, it looks like he's already decorated.

Kakashi heads deeper into the apartment and finds Iruka in the kitchen.

Whatever he's making smells really good.

He doesn't say anything to announce himself, just loudly scrapes the chair back as he moves it at the table and sits down. ]

[Iruka sets everything on the table. The meal is very traditional (rice, fish, eggs and salads, pickles and tea in an actual teapot!), and very well prepared like how someone with all the time in the world would prepare a proper meal. The cutlery too, is proper. It's also quite personalized, all blacks and the interiors glazed in red. They all match. Perhaps, given the situation, Iruka has allowed himself to indulge in the little things that he has lost. To anyone, the table looks like it is prepared someone who is very picky. Very decorative. Very fancy and colorful and nice

To Iruka, in Luceti, where he has nothing but time in his hands, it is a memory of meals shared with family too long ago. ]

I hope you're not a toast and eggs kind of person.

[Iruka says, as he sets the last bowl of pickle on the table and then sits across from Kakashi.]

Please help yourself.

[ This is way more food than Kakashi had expected, and extremely fucking elaborate for breakfast. Normally, he just has coffee and sometimes a protein shake or some eggs. Maybe a bit of bread or a bowl of rice. But never anything this elaborate or well prepared. ]

I'm starting to think you're trying to bribe me with food to forget last night, Iruka-sensei.

[ Said as he reaches for his chopsticks. ]

If i wanted to bribe you, Kakashi-san, you'll know and your meal certainly wouldn't look this simple.

[iruka serves himself some rice and eggs and pours tea for the both of them.]

Now that I have time in my hands, I indulge in things I normally can't when back home. I don't exactly have the time to cook properly when I teach and cover administrative work. Here on the other hand...

[Iruka leaves it at that and takes a sip of his tea.]

I am genuinely sorry for any trouble I may have caused you last night. [A beat.] I am also sincerely hoping I didn't interrupt you while you were in the middle of something important.
