It was went he was about to turn around when he sees the guy. Marco can only raise an eyebrow when he saw the mask. ]
Hey.
[ Marco dressed himself warmly enough, with a heavy jacket and heavy boots for the unpredictable end of winter. ]

[ Kakashi waves at the kid as he approaches, dressed simply in his uniform, a scarf wrapped around his neck. It hasn't been so cold lately that he's needed to wear the winter cloak.
He approaches, stopping a couple of feet away from the boy. ]

So how is the registration going so far? Got any new recruits?
[ Marco can't say he feels entirely comfortable with even talking about joining this Alliance. He never joined anything back home, not at school or anywhere else, excluding the Animorphs. (And even then the Animorphs never counted; it's not like he wanted to get into killing alien slugs as a hobby or career choice.) Volunteering to be a good-doer is more of Cassie's deal, not Marco's. In some ways Marco is a solitary kind of a guy, despite his easy, socializing manner. ]

[ While Kakashi's no stranger to children in war, as he was one himself, if he can avoid putting younger children on the front line, he'd much prefer it.]

I am several years away from legally getting some alcohol right about now.
[ Translation: too damn young. ]
no subject
What is the legal age of drinking in your world?
no subject
[ A pause, and then - ]
I'm fourteen, okay?
[ He lets out a huff, visible in the cold air. ]
But if you have seen the things I've done, you would've offered me a drink anyway.
[ Not that Marco would take it. He has seen first hand what the bottle can do, and he's not going to be like his Dad at his worst. No way. ]
no subject
Why don't you tell me a little about your experiences? And your name.
no subject
Marco.
[ He paused for a moment, trying to figure out what to explain it. No matter how much he wants to interject some stupid Star Trek references in his explanation, he's been here long enough to know that no one is going to understand him and more importantly, they aren't going to take him seriously. So he does his best Jake impersonation and soldiers on: ]
Me and a few others are a guerrilla group who are trying to slow down a secret invasion of aliens that try to take over human beings as their host bodies, and that includes world leaders so they can mess with the system to infest more humans. We were given the power to basically turn into any living creature we can touch. For the most part we use it to sabotage any operations like destroying supplies and stuff like that. Just trying to slow the whole invasion down until reinforcements from outside forces arrive.
[ He shrugs, his breath visible in the cold air. ]
Or, at least, we're hoping reinforcements will come. From what I'm from, the human race is still haven't tried galactic travel yet and the ones that fight the Yeerks from infesting any more races are kinda spread thin across the galaxy, and our best hope is they might come within a year. Hopefully.

What a horrible thing to have to fight. ]
Are you able to turn into other human beings as well?
no subject
[ Marco decides not to explain the moral reason why the Animorphs don't morph sentient beings. Maybe later, if Marco feels comfortable about talking the technicalities. ]
Not to mention morphing people here is a little useless - the wings they sewed on their back don't change at all. If I morph you right now, it won't take long for people to know you well can notice the wings are different.

[ That could be a bit of a limitation. ]

[ Marco shrugs. ]
My resume is kinda shoddy thanks to the wings, sorry.

I think you can still be pretty useful, especially if you have the ability to fly. Up in the air, it won't be noticeable if you're a bird with four wings or two. Would you be able to perform recon? Or maybe morph into even smaller creatures, such as an insect, to infiltrate a building?
no subject
Birds and insect morphs are just fine.
And there's another thing: in morph, I have something called thought-speak. It's basically I can talk to you in with my thoughts, within a certain distance.
