Today. Before sundown.

I'll see you there.

[ Marco has his lesson learnt pretty early on. When the sun was set he was ready to take off, thinking that the whole Alliance thing was just a giant joke, that no one is really doing anything with this thing.

It was went he was about to turn around when he sees the guy. Marco can only raise an eyebrow when he saw the mask. ]

Hey.

[ Marco dressed himself warmly enough, with a heavy jacket and heavy boots for the unpredictable end of winter. ]

[ There is a pause as Marco seizes the man up. Then, he shrugs, as a teenager wont to do, glancing around warily. ]

So how is the registration going so far? Got any new recruits?

[ Marco can't say he feels entirely comfortable with even talking about joining this Alliance. He never joined anything back home, not at school or anywhere else, excluding the Animorphs. (And even then the Animorphs never counted; it's not like he wanted to get into killing alien slugs as a hobby or career choice.) Volunteering to be a good-doer is more of Cassie's deal, not Marco's. In some ways Marco is a solitary kind of a guy, despite his easy, socializing manner. ]

Oh yeah?

I am several years away from legally getting some alcohol right about now.

[ Translation: too damn young. ]

Twenty-one.

[ A pause, and then - ]

I'm fourteen, okay?

[ He lets out a huff, visible in the cold air. ]

But if you have seen the things I've done, you would've offered me a drink anyway.

[ Not that Marco would take it. He has seen first hand what the bottle can do, and he's not going to be like his Dad at his worst. No way. ]

[ The guy's a poker player who is allowed to wear a mask - Marco really can't get a good read on him at all. ]

Marco.

[ He paused for a moment, trying to figure out what to explain it. No matter how much he wants to interject some stupid Star Trek references in his explanation, he's been here long enough to know that no one is going to understand him and more importantly, they aren't going to take him seriously. So he does his best Jake impersonation and soldiers on: ]

Me and a few others are a guerrilla group who are trying to slow down a secret invasion of aliens that try to take over human beings as their host bodies, and that includes world leaders so they can mess with the system to infest more humans. We were given the power to basically turn into any living creature we can touch. For the most part we use it to sabotage any operations like destroying supplies and stuff like that. Just trying to slow the whole invasion down until reinforcements from outside forces arrive.

[ He shrugs, his breath visible in the cold air. ]

Or, at least, we're hoping reinforcements will come. From what I'm from, the human race is still haven't tried galactic travel yet and the ones that fight the Yeerks from infesting any more races are kinda spread thin across the galaxy, and our best hope is they might come within a year. Hopefully.

I could. We don't really use it that way often since it can be a risk.

[ Marco decides not to explain the moral reason why the Animorphs don't morph sentient beings. Maybe later, if Marco feels comfortable about talking the technicalities. ]

Not to mention morphing people here is a little useless - the wings they sewed on their back don't change at all. If I morph you right now, it won't take long for people to know you well can notice the wings are different.

Yeah. They will be smaller or bigger depending on the animal, but they will still be the same. For birds it will be a little hard to notice, but it's there.
guerrilla_morph: (stop that right now cassie)

[personal profile] guerrilla_morph 2014-03-27 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a serious flaw, I'll admit. Back home I can just morph some bird and look at some outdoor meeting and no one will the wiser. Here it is a little tricky, and some of the things I can do easily are just not an option any more here, like morphing people. Not if anything requires not to blow my cover. Fighting is something I can do, but that's a last resort for me. All of my morphs are not suited on an open battlefield.

[ Marco shrugs. ]

My resume is kinda shoddy thanks to the wings, sorry.

[ It's less on beating himself up and more showing his frustration at the whole thing. The Animorphs aren't Power Rangers by any means, but Marco knows his limitations. It's his thing, really, to use the limitations and not just work around them, but work with them. Except this time, there is no real way to get around the wings, and there is nothing he can do to make any real advantage to them. ]

Birds and insect morphs are just fine.

And there's another thing: in morph, I have something called thought-speak. It's basically I can talk to you in with my thoughts, within a certain distance.
guerrilla_morph: (casually and coldly)

[personal profile] guerrilla_morph 2014-03-31 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, exactly. Maybe one or two kilometers? It depends. Long distances if there is nothing between us. But if I'm underground, it'll be faint. It kinda works like a radio. But it also works like the messages on the journals: I can contact you privately and no one else can hear it, or I can make it public.
guerrilla_morph: (look at me i'm a classy guy)

It's cool!

[personal profile] guerrilla_morph 2014-04-09 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
What, thought-speak? Nah. Morphing can be, depending on the animal.
